Puppet is definitely my favorite stylistic element, and it creates the best visual effect for both beginner and advanced dancers. This element requires a high level of body control, making it one of the most challenging techniques to master for optimal effect. However, I believe you will learn a lot from this post! Let start from basic shall we... Cuz this can get really hard.

Summary of key points
Add the pop at the proper time. The puppet is not emphasizing the "power" or "strength" of the pop, but the pop is still necessary.
Be crystal clear about which body parts should do the pop, and keep other body parts relaxed.
The body structure is important. Although your body looks like a boneless puppet, remember that lines are controlling and hanging up the puppet. Therefore, you need to keep your body structure (upper part of the arm, backbone, and neck) rigid.
Feel the sense of being "controlled". Imagine your hands, chest, waist, and arms are not controlled by your mind but by a big hand trying to twist your body to satisfy its desire to see something weird.

Performing and practicing tips:
"Try to create a sense of IMBALANCE. Make your audience feel like you are close to flipping over, but control your body to remain stable.
Raise your arm and leg high in the sky when you try to create a sense of "being controlled".
